Arrest Made in Connection to Fentanyl-Related Murder in Collin County
For Immediate Release:
On February 13, 2024, members of the Collin County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Marshal's Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force, and the U.S. Marshal's North Texas Fugitive Task Force arrested Gregory Noah Honesty (07-13-1998) in Dallas, Texas, for the charge of Murder, Penal Code 19.02(b)(4).
On November 19, 2023, Investigators with the Collin County Sheriff's Office responded to the overdose death of a 25-year-old female in Blue Ridge, Texas. The Collin County Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death to be fentanyl toxicity. Investigators gathered evidence linking Honesty to the sale of fentanyl-laced counterfeit M-30 pills to the female. Collin County Investigators obtained an arrest warrant, signed by 401st District Court Judge George Flint, charging Honesty with murder.
Under Texas Penal Code 19.02(b)(4), an individual may be charged with murder if he or she knowingly manufactures or delivers fentanyl and the individual dies as a result.
Sheriff Jim Skinner: I commend the Texas Legislature for amending the Texas Penal Code to help law enforcement combat the fentanyl epidemic and hold those responsible accountable for their actions. My office will continue to vigorously pursue anyone who comes here and distributes fentanyl-laced products that lead to a person's death.
