What's New

Collin County will be updating its Hazard Mitigation Action Plan in 2027, a critical effort aimed at reducing the impact of natural disasters before they occur. As part of this process, we're seeking input from both employees and the public - and your feedback matters.

A Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) is a FEMA-required, strategic document developed by state, local, and tribal governments to identify long-term risks from natural hazards (e.g., floods, wildfires) and outline actions to reduce vulnerability, protect life and property, and break the cycle of disaster damage.

Updated every five years, these plans focus resources on the greatest risks, fostering community resilience and enabling eligibility for federal mitigation funding.
