​The Tax Assessor accepts the following methods of payment:

• Cash
• Cashier Check
• Money Order
• Travelers Check
• Personal Check (if the requirements are met)
• Credit Cards - VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express cards (a service charge of 2.15% of the total transaction amount applies - minimum $2.00)

Collin County will accept a check at the counter if the following requirements are met:

The current driver's license and pre-printed check information must match the current state vehicle RTS computer information.

1. Customer must have a current address on the state vehicle record (RTS computer system.) The state computer system allows for three current addresses if applicable - owner, mailing, and vehicle location address.
2. Customer must have a current valid driver's license with same address as shown on state record.
3. The check must be pre-printed with the same current address as shown on state record.

If the information does not match (is not current), the registration sticker and/or license plates will be mailed to you, or you should pay in cash.
