Assumed Name Online Application Statement of Abandonment Online Assumed Name Search

The Texas Business and Commerce Code Title 5 Chapter 71.051 requires persons conducting business or providing professional services to file an Unincorporated Assumed Name Certificate in the county in which the person will be conducting business. Please use the following guidelines when applying:

  • Please complete the online application and then visit either the McKinney or Plano office to finalize the filing of your assumed name within 10 calendar days from the date of submission.
  • If an unincorporated business has one or more partners, each partner must be present at the time of filing the assumed name certificate.

Fees will vary according to the type of assumed name certificate you are filing. Please contact our office for information.

Moving Your Business Out of the County

If a business relocates out of Collin County, the owner may:

  • Allow the assumed name to expire.
  • File a Statement of Abandonment with the County Clerk.

Please complete the online application and then visit either the McKinney or Plano office to finalize the filing of the abandonment of assumed name within 10 calendar days from the date of submission.
