About the Collin County Jail

Detention Bureau

The Collin County Detention Center is a "direct supervision" facility (using a podular rather than linear design), which creates a secure and humane environment for both staff and inmates.

The structure, in tandem with the direct supervision philosophy, promotes supervision of inmates rather than control by intermittent surveillance and security barriers alone. With this philosophy in mind, a detention officer is present inside each housing unit at all times to directly supervise and interact with the inmates.
