Inmate Property

Inmates with property in storage at the Collin County Detention Facility are allowed to release that property to an individual of their choosing, if they wish. Below are some guidelines to Inmate Property Release.

Inmate Bulk Property Release

Inmates may authorize the release of their bulk property on an "all-or-nothing" basis, one time while in custody, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. daily. All property will be released to the requesting/receiving party, with the exception of a change of clothing for the inmate.

Inmate Valuable Property Release

Inmates may authorize the release of their valuable property on an "all-or-nothing" basis at any time.

TDCJ Property Release

Inmates transferred to the Texas Department of Corrections (TDCJ), or another facility under contract with TDCJ, will be allowed to designate one individual to claim any property not transferred with them to TDCJ. The Collin County Sheriff's Office will mail a notification letter to the inmate's designee. TDCJ property can be claimed between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. daily.

Any TDCJ property that has not been claimed within fifteen (15) days will be donated to charity.

All property that remains longer than 15 days will be donated to charity.
